Student Government Day
Seniors from Streamwood High School get an opportunity to "take over the town" and spend the day in a hands-on approach to local government. We invite you to see the students in action, on May 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm, as they hold a mock Village Board meeting at Village Hall (301 E Irving Park Road) in the Council Chambers.
Clean-Up Week
Advanced Disposal wants to motivate you to do some spring cleaning! Advanced Disposal will be offering expanded refuse pickup during Clean-Up Week 2013 - May 13-17! Veolia will pick up UNLIMITED amounts of trash placed at the curb, including old furniture, bicycles, etc. NO household hazardous waste, no electronics and no more than two cubic yards of construction/remodeling debris will be picked up. A $25 per item charge for white goods/appliances discarded at the curb will be required. Call Advanced Disposal (630) 587-8282 to arrange for payment and pick-up.
Memorial Day
2013 will mark the 22nd Anniversary of the Village of Streamwood Veterans Memorial. The Memorial Day Ceremony honors all those who have served in defense of our country. Schedule of events for our annual Memorial Day Observance includes a POW/MIA candlelight vigil and vigil guard. This moving tribute is held at the Veteran’s Memorial (301 E Irving Park Road). The candlelight vigil begins on Saturday, May 25. Throughout the night, vigil guards march past the monoliths. They are relieved at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 26 to formally start our Memorial Day Ceremony.

Streamwood Stride
Join the fun at the Annual Streamwood Stride on June 8, 2013. Races
include a 10K and 5K Run/Walk, Double Derby

(in conjunction with Bartlett Park
District) and 1-Mile Fun Run. Participants enjoy a pancake breakfast following
the event. The race is held at Park Place Family Recreation Center (550 S. Park

4th of July Fireworks
Celebrate our country’s independence with a display held at
9:15pm
at Dolphin Park on Park Blvd on July 4.
Rain date will be
July 5, if necessary.
Summer Celebration
A three-day, sun-filled event for the whole family. Enjoy a Saturday morning parade, carnival, Bingo, activities for the children, games, food/beer tent, Sunday morning golf outing, and entertainment each day on both the children’s stage as well as the main stage. National Night Out
National Night Out is an evening designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. Neighborhoods will spend the evening outdoors to give crime a "going away" party.
Touch-A-Truck

Health and Wellness Expo

Go Healthy! Challenge - Worldwide Day of Play

Fire Prevention Week - Open House
Visit the Fire Department to learn about the importance of
fire prevention and safety. On October 5, from 12:00-3:00 pm, take a tour of Station #32, spray a fire
hose, enjoy a puppet show, and learn how to keep your home, your family, and
yourself, safe from fire. Fire Station #32 is located at 900 W Irving
Park Road (just east of Route 59).![]()
Pumpkinfest
Join the Park District for their annual fall festival featuring a kid fun run, hay rides, games and pumpkin pie eating contests on Saturday, October 5 starting at 11:00 am. Pumpkins, hay bales and corn are also available to purchase throughout the month. Join the fun at Hoosier Grove Park (700 W. Irving Park Road). Safely Trick or Treat
Get your little ghosts and goblins off to a fun and safe start to trick-or-treating. The Park District will host this annual Safely Trick or Treat at Safety Town on Thursday, October 31 at 3:00 pm in Hoosier Grove Park (700 W. Irving Park Road). Halloween Hours
Trick or treat hours on October 31 are 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Children are

Cultures of Our Community
The Village's Community Relations Commission will host
its annual celebration of the cultures in our community in November at Poplar
Creek Library (1405 S Park Ave). Enjoy music, stories, food, and friendship
from around the world! Refreshments will be served at this free
event.
Veterans’ Day
This annual observance salutes all of America’s men and women in
uniform. The Veterans’ Day observance
is always held on November 11 at
11:00 am at the Veteran’s Memorial (301 E. Irving Park Road).
Annual Hanover Township Toy Drive
Hanover Township conducts an annual Toy Drive for needy families in our area. Collection bins are located throughout the community, including at Village Hall. New books and toys are accepted. Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner
This annual event highlights the best in local businesses! The Chamber announces its Business of the Year, Businessperson of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year at the event, which is open to the entire community. Handmade in Hanover Craft Show and Bake Sale

Luminaria
Volunteers, civic organizations and families help bring the holiday spirit to Streamwood by lining Park Boulevard, the Veteran’s Memorial and Village Hall as well as other areas throughout town with Luminaria. After visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, join us in front of the Veteran’s Memorial for our annual holiday tree lighting. Luminaria is held on the first Friday of December starting at 6:30pm.

with Santa

The Polar Express

Gail Borden Library hosts its annual Black History Festival in February 2. This free event features presentations on Black Americans who have shaped our country. No registration required at this family-friendly event.

The Streamwood Park District host this annual Family Health and Wellness Fair in February at Park Place. Learn about programs and services from a variety of groups and agency to keep your whole family on a healthy track!

Easter Events
The Streamwood Park District celebrates Easter with several events. They have an Easter Egg Hunt (Hoosier Grove Park) for children ages 8 and under on March 23; Egg Dive (Park Place) for kids 11 years and under; and Twilight Egg Hunt (Community Center), for students in kindergarten-6th Grade on March 29; and, the Hop Stop Bunny Breakfast (Hoosier Grove Barn) on March 30. Arbor Day
Streamwood is proud to be designated as a Tree City USA community. In celebration, each year the Village holds Arbor Day festivities in conjunction with local schools. These festivities include tree plantings and educational information on the maintenance and importance of trees in our community.

Art Appreciation Around the World
The Community Relations Commission hosts its annual Art Appreciation Around the World exhibit at Poplar Creek Library (1405 S Park Blvd.). Art displays included two- and three-dimensional work. Artists will be available throughout the afternoon to discuss their art with visitors. This year's event will be held on April 27, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
Streamwood Environmental Education Day (SEED)
The Natural Resource Conservancy Commission invites you to learn
about protecting our environment on April 27, 2013. This annual event is
held in the Maintenance Garage at Village Hall from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Representatives from various groups will provide information on
organic gardening, water quality, native plantings and energy
conservation. Free e-waste and expired prescription drug drop-off
will be available. Take in the Art Appreciation Event at the Library by
simply walking down the path from the garage.
Guns N' Hoses Charity Basketball Game
Off-duty personnel from the Streamwood Police and Fire Departments battle each other on the basketball court for bragging rights! The annual event raises funds to benefit local charities and Streamwood families in need. This year's game will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Streamwood High School at 7:00 pm.
