Calling all Veterans! The Veterans Commission is seeking volunteers to help raise the flags on Memorial Day. Veterans are needed, who could be in full uniform at our Memorial Day ceremony on May 26, to raise their respective branch of service flag (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard). Gail Borden Public Library presents: "SuperCroc" May 3, 7:30pm.  Dr. Paul Sereno, Professor, University of Chicago, will present his amazing SuperCroc discovery. Supercroc was the largest croc to roam the earth. Supercroc will be on display at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove, Elgin, May 3 through Aug. 18.
Your Financial Future: CA$H OR CRASH.  High School Students from Streamwood, Bartlett, Elgin and South Elgin are invited to spend an evening with a finance guru to find out  how to manage money on Thursday, May 16, 6:30-9pm. To register, send an e-mail to: coy@hanover-township.org with your name, grade, school and how many parents will be joining you. This event is sponsored by the Hanover Township Committee on Youth and will take place at the Streamwood High School Library, 701 West Schaumburg Rd., Streamwood.
Hanover Township Employment Services Job Club, Monday, May 20, 9-11am.  Kathleen J. McCuen, Director of Career Services, DeVry University, will present Resume Writing and Cover Letters. The Job Club will take place at Downy Hall, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett.  Registration is preferred by calling 630-540-9085.  Walk-Ins are welcome.
AARP Driver Safety Program will be held by the Streamwood Police Department May 21 and 23 (must attend both days) from 9am-1pm. This is an eight hour classroom refresher for motorists aged 50 and older.  Cost for the program is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Hanover Township Ask A Pharmacist Program, June 7, 10am-12pm. Bring your prescribed medications and a pharmacist will educate you about interactions. This event will take place at the Senior Center, 240 S. Rt. 59, Bartlett, Illinois.
June 8, 2013 - CPR / First Aid for Family and Friends - teaches basic skills needed to perform CPR and First Aid. The cost for this class is $40 per family. For details on these, or other classes, please call (630) 736-3650.

Family Picnic with the Zinghoppers on June 10 at Gail Borden Library. Bring a picnic supper to the library's west lawn at 6pm. Enjoy the entertainment of Conductor Jack and the Zinghoppers as they perform Dig Into Reading. Gail Borden Library is located at 270 N. Grove, Elgin.
Yardwaste pickup is seasonal and begins with the regular April trash pickup and will continue through the middle of December.  Veolia will take Christmas trees and wreaths on the first three pick-ups in January. Yardwaste can only be disposed in Kraft paper yardwaste bags or dedicated cans with "Yardwaste" sticker; biodegradable plastic bags are not accepted.
