FREE health screenings at Wellness Clinics open to the public at the Hanover Township Community Relations Office Clinic in Elgin every Tuesday and at the Astor Avenue Clinic in Hanover Park every Friday.  You must call to schedule an appointment ahead of time to ensure all the supplies needed for your appointment with the Nurse are available. The Community Relations Office Clinic in Elgin is at 899 Jay Street, Elgin, and the Astor Avenue Clinic is at 7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park.  Call (630) 483-5665 to schedule an appointment.
Wacky Wednesdays at the Cool Pool at Streamwood Park District Park Place Family Recreation Center. During the 1-4pm open swim they will have games and activities making the week a little wacky! Normal admission fees apply. Dates and Themes:
July 30 - Water Carnival
Don't Rush to Flush: How to Dispose of Medication Safely, Thursday, July 31, at 1pm. Commissioner Maiyana T. Spyopoulous of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago will discuss the importance of properly disposing of unused or expired medications and the harmful effects of flushing medication into our water system. This FREE event will take place in the lower level multipurpose room, 240 S. Route 59 Bartlett.
Hanover Township partners with KidCare Medical for children's immunization, physical and dental clinic on July 31, 2014, 4-7pm.  For newborns to 18 years of age.  $25 per physical exam; $5 per shot; $15 per dental exam. The clinic will take place at the Senior Center, 240 S. Rt. 59, Bartlett.  Walk-ins welcome or call (630) 483-5665 to register.
Ask a Pharmacist Program (Free) at Hanover Township Senior Center on Friday, August 1, from 10am-12noon. Bring a list of your prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to check for possible interactions. The Hanover Township Senior Center is located at 240 S. Rt. 59, Bartlett. Streamwood Park District Back to School Bash, Friday, August 8, 6-7:30pm. Come join the fun with pizza, free throw contest, crafts, games, SPD Moonwalk, face painting, and family photos! This event will take place at Sunny Hill Park on Irving Park Road, west of Rt. 59.
On August 9, the Streamwood Fire Department will be offering a CPR class for healthcare providers who need certification for employment.  The cost is $50/residents, $65/non-residents. For more information, please contact the Fire Department at (630) 736-3650.
AARP Smart Driver Course for seniors will be offered by the Streamwood Police Department, 401 E. Irving Park Road, Aug. 12 and 14 (must attend both days) at 9:00 am. The Poplar Creek Public Library District now offers best-selling and classic audiobooks and eBooks from the library’s website. This service is available 24/7 and free with your library card. To get started downloading audiobooks, eBooks, and more, visit http://emedialibrary.lib.overdrive.com.
Yardwaste pickup is seasonal and begins with the regular April trash pickup and continues through the middle of December.  Advanced Disposal will take Christmas trees and wreaths on the first three pick-ups in January. Yardwaste can only be put in Kraft paper yardwaste bags or dedicated cans with "Yardwaste" sticker; biodegradable plastic bags are not accepted.
