FREE health screenings at Wellness Clinics open to the public at the Hanover Township Community Relations Office Clinic in Elgin every Tuesday and at the Astor Avenue Clinic in Hanover Park every Friday.  You must call to schedule an appointment ahead of time to ensure all the supplies needed for your appointment with the Nurse are available. The Community Relations Office Clinic in Elgin is at 899 Jay Street, Elgin, and the Astor Avenue Clinic is at 7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park.  Call (630) 483-5665 to schedule an appointment.
Cold outside? Swim inside at the Streamwood Park District Cool Pool every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30-8:30pm for only $3 per person. For more information, call the Streamwood Park District at 630-372-7275.
Celebrate Earth Day April 21 at Hanover Township's Runzel Reserve, by helping with Spring Cleaning, including weeding gardens and trash pick-up. Runzel Reserve is located at 240  S. Rt. 59. Registration required: 630-483-5600
There will be a Blood Drive on April 23, 2014, from 2pm-8pm, at Streamwood Village Hall, 301 E. Irving Park Road. Call 630-289-9599 to register. Walk-ins are welcome. Give the gift of life! The Blood Drive is hosted by the Streamwood Blood Commission and VFW Post 5151.
Elgin Community College will be having a Job and Internship Fair on Friday, April 25, 2014, 10am-2pm at their main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. This event is free and open to the public; dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes! Saturday, May 3, 2014, Sprint Into Spring with Hanover Township 5K at the Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay Street, Elgin, IL. Registration 6:30am-7:45am, race begins at 8am. $25 registration fee; $35 day of race. Register online at www.sprint2spring.com until Apr. 30. Register before Apr. 15 for an additional $5 off registration fee.

Hanover Township partners with KidCare Medical for children's immunization, physical and dental clinic on May 8, 2014, 4-7pm.  For newborns to 18 years of age.  $25 per physical exam; $5 per shot; $15 per dental exam. The clinic will take place at the Senior Center, 240 S. Rt. 59, Bartlett.  Walk-ins welcome or call (630) 483-5665 to register.
On May 10, the Streamwood Fire Department will be offering a CPR class for healthcare providers who need certification for employment.  The cost is $50/residents, $65/non-residents. For more information, please contact the Fire Department at 630-736-3650.
AARP Smart Driver Course for seniors will be offered by the Streamwood Police Department, 401 E. Irving Park Road, May 20 and 22 (must attend both days) at 9:00 am. The Streamwood High School Choral Society is hosting its first ever music instrument drive May 31, 2014, 10 am - 6 pm.  All types and conditions of instruments are welcome including string and band instruments, electronic keyboards and sound equipment. Professionals will perform appraisals and tax-deductible receipts will be provided for the market value of instruments. The event will take place at Streamwood High School, 701 W. Schaumburg Road. Donors should use the east parking lot behind the school and enter through door number 9.

Yardwaste pickup is seasonal and begins with the regular April trash pickup and continues through the middle of December.  Advanced Disposal will take Christmas trees and wreaths on the first three pick-ups in January. Yardwaste can only be put in Kraft paper yardwaste bags or dedicated cans with "Yardwaste" sticker; biodegradable plastic bags are not accepted.
