Village ordinance requires the purchase of a Real Estate Transfer Stamp for any property sold.  The rate of this tax is $3.00 per $1,000.00 of value for each transfer.  Requirements for purchase of the stamp are: payment of all water and sewer bills and assessments and penalties due to the Village; completion of the Village’s Real Estate Transfer Tax Declaration form (go to our Forms and Applications page in the Reference Desk section of our website to print this form); and a copy of the State of Illinois Real Estate Transfer Declaration.

Some transactions, including sale of your principle residence in Streamwood when you purchase another principle residence in Streamwood, are exempt. For questions or further information regarding Real Estate Transfer Stamps, please call the Finance Department at (630) 736-3844.
