Press Release
September 7, 2007
Deputy Chief Gremo
Streamwood Police Department
Streamwood
Police issue vehicle break-in alert
Numerous
residents of the Village of Streamwood have recently been
victimized by thieves
who are targeting the contents left in their vehicles in the
evening hours. The Police Department is actively investigating
each of these instances.
The Police
Department is requesting the assistance of residents to deter
and to apprehend the persons responsible for these crimes. It
is suggested that you follow these recommendations to protect
yourself and your belongings:
- Park in a well lit area.
- Make sure that all your windows are rolled up and lock
your doors.
- Do not leave valuable items such as GPS, Radar
Detectors, Wallets, etc. in your vehicle overnight.
- Report suspicious subjects in your neighborhood after
dark by dialing 911.
Theft is most often a crime of opportunity, if your car
looks easy to break into or steal, thieves will be drawn to
it.
