Press Release
October 3, 2007
Deputy Chief Gremo
Streamwood Police Department
Police
Search for Suspect
The
Streamwood Police Department assisted the Hanover Park Police
Department today trying to locate a person wanted for
questioning about a crime in Hanover Park. The person
ran away from officers, which led to police activity in
the neighborhoods in between Woodland Heights School and
Sunnydale Elementary School. Although there was no
reason to believe that the person was an immediate threat, for
the safety and security of our children, the two schools were
placed on "lockdown," purely as a
precaution.
After
determining that the person was no longer in the area, the
schools were reopened. The police activity took no
longer than 1½ hours. All students were dismissed
at their regular times without incident.
We
appreciate the understanding and cooperation of School
District U-46. We also greatly appreciate the help and
understanding of all parents and students.
