Streamwood Police to Conduct Traffic Safety Campaign - "Click It or Ticket"

The Streamwood Police Department will be participating in the national traffic safety campaign dubbed: “Click It or Ticket”. This campaign runs from May 19^th through June 1^st, 2008, and is administered by both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

The national seat belt usage rate is 82% per statistics published by NHTSA. The goal of this campaign is to save lives and prevent severe injuries on Illinois highways and achieve a 93% safety belt compliance rate. Streamwood officers will be out in force during this time frame taking both a “zero tolerance” approach to seat belt enforcement and auditing seat belt usage in our community. This campaign will also run in conjunction with current traffic safety programs already in place.
