Streamwood Police Officer Charged in excessive force incident

On Thursday, April 15, 2010, Streamwood Police Officer James Mandarino was arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery and Official Misconduct stemming from an incident occurring in the Village on Sunday, March 28, 2010.
Streamwood Police officials learned of the event on March 28, 2010, and immediately contacted authorities at the Illinois State Police to request that an independent investigation of the incident be conducted. The State Police referred the investigation to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office-Special Prosecution Bureau, which then assumed responsibility for the investigation, subsequently authorizing charges as outlined above.
Officer Mandarino has been placed on paid administrative leave pending disciplinary action.
