Streamwood Police Host Guest Speaker for October Beat Meetings.
Release date: 10/8/2013
Over the year, the Streamwood Police Department has conducted numerous beat meetings at the Police Department to inform our residents about current crime trends and to provide safety information to reduce their chance of becoming a victim. In a better effort to inform our residents about the dangers of prescription drugs, we have invited a guest speaker from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy to our October meetings.
The October Beat Meetings will be held on the following dates at the Streamwood Police Department:
October 14 - Beats 3 and 4
October 22 - Beats 1 and 2
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, prescription drug abuse is at epidemic levels. Approximately 52 million Americans have misused prescription drugs and 100 people die from prescription drug overdoses every day in the United States. In fact, prescription pain killer overdoses kill more people than heroin and cocaine combined.
Come to the Streamwood Police Station on the listed dates to learn how to protect yourself, family and friends at the AWARxE presentation on prescription drug safety: misuse/abuse, proper storage/disposal, safe internet purchasing, and dangers of counterfeit drugs.
A map to inform you of the beat you reside has been provided. If you are unsure of what meeting you should attend, please contact Commander Hart at 630-736-3706.
