Citizens Police Academy
The Streamwood Police Department established a Citizens
Police Academy to achieve better communication between the
community and the Police Department. The Citizens Police
Academy is designed to better inform the residents of the
Village of Streamwood in police operations. The Citizens
Police Academy will also inform the police department of the
residents' expectations of the police department.
The Citizens Police Academy is held one night a week for
two hours. The curriculum consists of the following
areas of police work:
Orientation,
Training, Field Training and Communication
- Criminal Law/Use of Force by a Police Officer
- Motor Vehicle Laws/DUI Laws
- Accident Investigation/Traffic Stops
- Crime Scene Processing
- Juvenile Law/Gangs
- Domestic Violence/Child Abuse
- Practical Exercises
- Canine Demonstration
- Graduation
Classes are limited to twenty-five participants, with
participants being a Streamwood resident and must be at least
twenty-one years of age.
