Social Services Program
The Social Services Program is a professionally-staffed section of the Police
Department offering free counseling and aid to residents of Streamwood
experiencing situations of personal or family concern. Referrals are often made
by police officers, firefighters or community development personnel. Schools,
hospitals or community agencies, which encounter individuals who may need
assistance, also refer residents to the Streamwood Police Department social
worker.
Our social worker is available to help with crisis intervention, court advocacy,
well-being checks, general domestic violence services, and crime victim advocacy
services. For information on your rights as a victim, click here for our
Victim's Rights Explanation Sheet. Our social worker can also provide information and referrals to other
agencies to help you best manage and address your concerns. You may also find
specific information on the resources available from our
Domestic Violence Fact Sheet.
If you need assistance or are concerned about a neighbor or friend, please
contact Karyn Nelson, LCSW, directly at (630) 736-3721. She is generally available
Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. You may also call the Streamwood Police
Department, 24-hours a day at (630) 736-3700. They will forward your message.
