Refuse Services
GARBAGE SERVICE INFORMATION
The Village of Streamwood has contracted with Veolia Environmental
Services for solid waste, recycling and yardwaste collection
services.
New residents must register for service by calling (630) 587-8282.
Types of services include refuse collection, recycling,
landscape/yardwaste, household furnishings, appliances,
construction/remodeling debris

The Village is divided into four zones which determine
your collection day.

Hours of Collection
7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Materials must be placed at the curb no earlier than 5:00 pm the day before
collection, but no later than 7:00 am the day of collection, (there is no guarantee that the
truck will be in your neighborhood at the same time each week). Refuse
containers must be removed from the curb by 9:00 pm the day
of collection.
Refuse Containers
Reusable containers (cans) or sealed impervious (plastic) bags
may be used. Bags and containers cannot exceed 33 gallons and
may not exceed 50 pounds in weight. Overweight or
over capacity containers may not be picked up. Residents
may arrange for wheeled cart service, for an additional fee,
by calling Veolia at 630-587-8282.
Recycling
Green-recycling bins will be distributed by Veolia for recycling and are to be
placed at the curb to serve as a visual signal to the
collection crew that you have recyclables for pick-up.
The first bin will be furnished at no charge. Additional
bins are available at $6.00 each, by calling Veolia at (630)
587-8282. (Old blue recycling bins may also be used.)
What's

It is not necessary to sort recyclable materials:
all recyclables may be placed together in the recycling
bin. The following items are accepted in the recycling

Landscape/Yardwaste
Collection is seasonal and for 2008 occurs from April 1st through
December 15th, and again, the first three (3) pick-ups in
January for the collection of Christmas Trees.
Landscape/yardwaste includes: grass clippings, leaves,
weeds, shrubbery, brush, small branches and other material
accumulated as a result of the care of lawns, shrubbery and
trees. Disposal of landscape/yardwaste must be in either brown
Kraft paper bags available for purchase at local stores, or by
designating a regular trash can to be used solely for
Yardwaste. This is accomplished by purchasing a single
Yardwaste sticker for $1.00 at Village Hall. This sticker is
to act as a visual signal to the crew that you have Yardwaste
for pick-up.
Household
furnishings
One item per week will be picked up
on regular collection days. There will be no additional charge
for this service.
Appliances
(White Goods)
Including but not limited to stoves, ovens, washing machines,
dryers, air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators,
dehumidifiers, water softeners, water heaters, microwave
ovens, trash compactors and dishwashers. For safety reasons
please remove all doors prior to placing at the curb. There is
a $25.00 charge per item for the collection of these
appliances.

up.
Construction/Remodeling Debris
Two yards collected weekly at no additional charge. Includes items such as lumber, drywall, paneling, carpeting,
rocks, dirt, concrete, sod, bricks and branches greater the
6" in diameter. These materials must be placed in bags or
boxes not to exceed 4 feet in length and 50 pounds in weight.
Single items such as toilets, sinks, vanities, garage doors,
swing sets, and kitchen cabinets must be disassembled and each
portion or item cannot exceed 50 pounds in weight. There will
be an additional charge of $7.50 (minimum charge of 2 cubic
yards) per cubic yard, payable
prior to service for quantities of construction/remodeling
debris in excess of two (2) cubic yards.
Household
Hazardous Waste Collections
One Day Household Hazardous Waste collections
sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency are scheduled for
the Spring and Fall. The collections closest
to Streamwood will be listed below. One day collections are
open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For further information, please
