Fiber Installation Permits Issued

Fiber internet providers will soon start installing fiber internet networks for homes and businesses. They have notified the Village that neighborhoods set for construction have received information via door hangers.

The fiber installation will occur in public rights of way or property easements, which are areas on your property designated for utility use, including telecommunications, gas, water, sewer, and electricity. The primary installation method involves directional boring underground to run conduit and fiber optic cables along an approved path, designed to be minimally invasive. A small utility box will be placed outside your home to connect the fiber optic cable. If you subscribe, the provider will help install any remaining components inside your home.

Contractors must be registered with the Village and coordinate with JULIE to locate existing utilities. You may notice colored flags or chalk lines indicating utility locations—please do not disturb these, as they ensure safety. These markings should disappear in a few weeks. If you have private systems like irrigation sprinklers, landscape lighting, pool equipment, or invisible fences, contact the provider to safeguard them before work starts.

Fiber providers have said they're committed to minimizing disruption and will restore your property to its original state after installation, excluding items like flowers or potted plants in the right of way. If any damage occurs, such as to a sprinkler system, reach out to the provider directly. Contact information is available in the FAQs below.
