The Police Department offers monthly Beat Meetings. These meetings will help residents better communicate with the Police Department, assist in our efforts to prevent crime, and help to apprehend those who commit crimes. The Police Department patrols the Village in distinct geographic areas, called beats (see map).
A Patrol Sergeant is assigned to each beat, and is responsible for gathering crime and traffic complaint information where you live. This helps to better focus our resources on prevention and enforcement. Every month, your Beat Sergeant will host a meeting to explore on issues such as reducing your chance of becoming a victim, training to become a good observer, or suspect identification.
Beat Meetings will expand our current Neighborhood Watch efforts, by including those residents not involved in an established Neighborhood Watch. All Beat Meetings will be held in the Police Department Training Room (401 E Irving Park Road) at 7:00 pm. Find your area Beat on the map, to determine your Beat Sergeant and Beat Meeting date. Future meeting dates will be posted here and at the monthly Beat Meetings.
For additional information on the Beat Meeting program, please contact Deputy Chief Shawn Taylor at (630) 736-3794 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
