treamwood Police Investigate Domestic Related Stand-Off

A suspect is in custody and charged after a domestic related stand-off that occurred in the 0-20 block of East Pine Street. Nobody was injured during the event which did displace several residents from their homes and required officers to shut down a large portion of Bartlett Road. The incident was reported to police at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 10th. The suspect later surrendered at 4:10 a.m. on June 11th.
Officers were dispatched to this location following a call from a woman who was threatened with a firearm by her estranged husband; Mr. Pedro Garay while sitting in a car. The woman, along with her 6 year old son, fled the scene without further incident. First responders arrived on scene and quickly ascertained the suspect fled into his parent’s home nearby. After initial attempts to place him into custody were unsuccessful, the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) was contacted for assistance. After several hours, Mr. Pedro Garay surrendered to police without further incident. Officers did locate several other family members inside the home. A weapon was also recovered from the scene.
Mr. Garay was arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Battery with a Firearm; The Felony charge was approved by the Cook States Attorney’s Office.
