The Village of Streamwood elects its officials in independent, at-large elections. Therefore, no primaries are held for Village offices. The Village holds consolidated elections in April of odd numbered years. Primaries and general elections, for national or state offices, are held separately.
Elections
2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election
In even-numbered years, Illinois holds the Gubernatorial Primary Election to nominate candidates for statewide, legislative, and county offices. During this election, voters will select party nominees for offices such as Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Illinois General Assembly, and various county positions.
The 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 17.

Voter Registration
Village residents can register to vote online at the Cook County Clerk's website.
The Streamwood Village Clerk’s Office offers on-site voter registrations by appointment. The Clerk also offers in-home registration services by appointment for residents who are unable to leave their homes. Please call the Village Clerk’s Office to book an appointment at (630) 736-3806.
To register, residents must be 18 years or older, a United States citizen, and have lived in their precinct for at least 30 days.
Remember if you have moved or changed your name, you must re-register to be eligible to vote.
The Cook County Clerk’s website can also be used to verify your voter registration, access grace-period registration information, and find early voting dates and locations.
Early Voting
The Streamwood Community Development Garage (351 E Irving Park Road, behind Village Hall) is an early voting site. The hours and dates are stipulated by the Cook County Clerk.
Voter registration will be available during early voting. If you wish to register, or change your information, you must bring two pieces of identification - one with your current Cook County address.
A designated drop box will be located with the early voting judges (in the garage) DURING EARLY VOTING ONLY for those voters who have a mail-in ballot and do not wish to use the USPS mail.
Vote By Mail
Apply for a mail-in ballot at the Cook County Clerk website: cookcountyclerk.com. Complete the online application; you will need your driver’s license or state ID number OR the last four digits of your Social Security number, the address where you wish your ballot to be mailed, and an email address. You will be notified via email when your ballot is sent, and when it has been received by Cook County.
Election Day
Election Day voting is from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you choose to vote on Election Day, you must visit your local polling place to cast your vote. Please visit the Cook County Clerk website to verify your registration, and to check for your local polling place.
