Patrol Division
Patrol Officers make up the Field Services Division of the Streamwood Police Department. There are a total of 32 uniformed officers, with rotating shifts, that are available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, to protect life and property, preserve peace and order, prevent and detect crime, while enforcing state and local laws to ensure the Streamwood community is a safe and enjoyable place to live and work.
The division has two patrol teams per 12-hour shift, which work on an alternating schedule. Each patrol team is supervised by a patrol sergeant and each shift is supervised by a patrol commander.
Officers assigned to this division perform a variety of duties, which include but are not limited to:
- Respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Provide response to reports of criminal activity
- Apprehend criminals and wanted persons
- Respond to motor vehicle accidents
- Enforce motor vehicle violations
- Crime prevention patrols and initiatives
Make a Police Report
Residents may use our Online Police Report Submission System as a convenient way to file a report for certain minor and non-emergency matters (credit card fraud, criminal damage to property, identity theft, lost property, theft, and vandalism). All reports are reviewed by police and if there is a need for more information or further investigation is required, you will be contacted as quickly as possible.
Please note that this system is not continually monitored. Please call or text 911 immediately if:
- this is an emergency.
- you need police follow-up and/or an officer to respond in person.
- you have additional information to share with the police (e.g., You believe you know who committed a crime or that evidence was left behind).
Please also note filing a false police report is a crime under 720 ILCS 5/26-1(a)(4) and may result in fines and/or imprisonment.
