Route 59 Bike Bridge Project

This project involves the construction of a pedestrian and bike path from Madison Drive to a bike trail on the west side of Route 59. The project is ongoing with completion in 2025.

Irving Park Road Widening (S Sutton Road to Schaumburg Road)

Week of 9-22-25

Road work continues on pavement removal, road base, retaining wall construction, and underground utility improvements.  The construction has been staged for the south side of Irving Park Rd. There are ramps constructed to provide access to streets intersecting with Irving Park Rd.

2025 Road Program

The contractor is scheduled to pave the first layer of asphalt on the following streets this week:

Schroeder Asphalt is scheduled to complete full depth patches on Beaver Dr and Cypress Dr on Monday (June 2^nd). The Street Division of the Public Works will pave the following streets after the completion of the patches:

• Beaver Dr
• Country ln
• Cypress Dr

UPDATE: Village Street Division paving forces will pave Cypress Drive on Thursday and Friday, weather dependent.  Country Lane paving has been completed, and Beaver Drive is scheduled to be paved next week.

All vehicles should be off the street during the construction hours which are typically 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

2025 Watermain Improvements

This work will mainly consist of installing new watermain on Joyce Lane, Forest Drive, Beaver Drive, and Pleasant Place. As part of this project, fire hydrants will be replaced and existing water services will be connected to the new watermain.  This project will be followed by project from other contractors for concrete repairs, asphalt patching, and asphalt resurfacing. The project is estimated to begin in March and be completed in May.

2025 Various Concrete Repairs

This work will mainly consist of removing and replacing various concrete items within the Village’s right-of-way in preparation for resurfacing the street later in the year. Additionally, as part of this project, miscellaneous concrete repairs will be made throughout town, but those streets will not be resurfaced this year. The current list of streets due for resurfacing may be found above (under 2025 Road Resurfacing Program) but is subject to change throughout the year. Concrete repairs which may be performed include curb replacement, sidewalk replacement for ADA compliance, and adjustments to utility structures as needed. This work also includes restoration of disturbed areas. 

The project is estimated to begin in April and be completed in August.

2025 Irving Park Widening Phase 3

The State of Illinois’ Irving Park Rd. Reconstruction and Widening project is scheduled to start towards the middle of March and is anticipated to be complete in about one year. The limits of the project are from just west of Route 59 to just east of Schaumburg Rd.  The widening includes providing  continuous painted centerline median left turn lanes, concrete curb and gutter, a sidewalk on the south side,  a multi-use path on the north side, street lighting and landscaping. 

Message boards will go up before work starts. There will be intermittent daily lane closures as needed.  If possible, please take an alternate route to avoid delays.

The Village has been working since 2019 on the implementation of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Route 59 to improve connectivity in our community. This spring, work will start on the project. Work includes boardwalks through the wetlands, connecting with a steel truss bridge over Route 59. The boardwalks will tie into the existing path system on the west side of Route 59. The Village will also be working to install a path along Madison Drive to connect with the boardwalks, park and path system along Irving Park Road.

The initial work will include site prep, utility work and installing foundations for the boardwalk. Due to the steel material lead time, the prefabricated steel bridge portion of the project over Route 59 is anticipated to begin in September of 2025 and be completed by the end of 2025.

This new multi-use path is a key part of Streamwood’s long term Comprehensive Plan goal to increase connectivity and safe transportation options by establishing additional paths in the Village. The project is a joint effort with support from multiple agencies including the Village of Streamwood and funding from the Federal government, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Cook County.  For more information regarding the project, click here.
